One of our very own baristas, Allison Lynch, took a 10 day trip to four cities in Guatemala to explore the entire process that coffee beans go through before they become ground coffee! These pictures were taken in Santa Anita where she helped coffee bean farmers prepare for their next harvesting season.
We interviewed her about her experience, where she explained that coffee farmers have an 8 hour day each day, even after harvesting season is over.
Although it was the end of harvesting season, she did have the pleasure of seeing the process that coffee cherries go through to become a cup of coffee (and tasting the delicious coffee!). Coffee cherries are picked, dried, roasted and then prepared!
This experience definitely brought Allison’s coffee knowledge full circle; she now understands everything that goes into the pounds of coffee that we sell in store!
